August 2nd Jeremy spent the day helping our neighbors move out of their house. Avian came to work with me and helped me get my office set up again for the coming year. Jeremy only has his Japanese final left and then he is done with his summer classes. Steve spent time in the garage building things. He was in his happy place.
Olympics update: Simone Biles Gold All-Around. Men's 10,000 US got bronze in a come-from-behind move. Leon Marchand of France the next Michael Phelps?
August 3rd Steve and John with to the Knap-In down at the Schiele Museum. He always learns some cool new techniques for making arrow heads at the Knap-in. I spent the day cleaning the house as much as I could. Jeremy got SOAKED walking in to work and bought a new outfit so he would be dry. He looked good. In the afternoon, Steve went and helped a family in our ward get some plywood from Home Depot to their house so they could finish working on a project.
Olympics update: Simone Biles gold in vault. Stephen Nedoroscik bronze on pommel horse. 4x medley swim - gold. Shotput Gold and Silver. 4x running - Netherland came from 4th place to win. Ledecky got another gold.
August 5th it was back to work for me. I was surprised to be recognized with a 10 year pin. I have been working in one capacity or another for 10 years but only been an official employee for 3 years. It was nice. We also paid our last tuition payment for Jeremy!!!
August 6th Jeremy took his Japanese final and felt really good about it. He is just glad to be done.
August 7th Nancy came over and we did the first leg of sizing adjustments to her wedding dress. It is going to be so pretty when it is done.
August 8th, the first day of school was cancelled due to Tropical Storm Debby. It was a good thing I had the day to work on the wedding dress because I ended up having to take the whole bodice apart to get the boning and pads out. In the process, I found an extra 2 inches of seam that I could let out to make the dress more comfortable for Nancy. Steve drove me to Nancy's house to do a fitting and then to Hobby Lobby to get the material to fill in the open back of the dress.
August 10th I worked on the wedding dress all day long while watching the Olympics. I got the bodice fitted and the new sleeves put on. Steve worked outside, got another hickory log (from a friend) and did some grocery shopping. Avian chilled and Jeremy picked up a friend from the airport. Nick came to ride his bike. I got to hear all about his trip to the mountains with his friends. They rented a house adn spent several days just hiking and enjoying the gorgeous scenery.
August 11th Steve spoke in sacrament meeting. We were both laughing because President Page was in our sacrament meeting. He seemed to always be there when Steve has to speak. Back at home I got the zipper in the wedding dress. It was an invisible zipper and I had never done one before. I was very nervous!! It ended up being really easy. In fact, I like the invisible zipper better than the regular zipper for ease of putting it in.
August 12th. There was an ironic twist of events. Steve went to the bank to close some of the accounts we had open for the kids savings and they would not let him close the accounts because I had opened the accounts right after we moved here. Usually it is the other way around. Avian and I went in to close the accounts and got them a credit card for school. Also, the wedding dress is finished.
August 13th I went to the dermatologist to have my skin cancer removed. We decided to go with the scrape and burn, but that sounded really violent and invasive so we all agreed to rename it the buff and polish. It was not as bad as I thought it would be, but the scar is going to be gnarly, which is what I was trying to avoid with the buff and polish versus cutting it out and having stitches. Oh well. Avian drove me to the appointment and sat in the waiting room sewing a bag that looked like a rat to fill with rockes for Max's birthday. I love their friendship. They do the funniest things for each other. I did one final fitting with Nancy and the dress fits perfectly!!!! PHEW!!!!

August 15th Avian went and got their hair cut and then went to a movie with Ari, one of their suite mates for the coming year at SCAD.
August 17th I pulled weeds in the front yard as best as I could while Steve mowed the lawn. The front yard looks nice again. We also got to meet our new neighbor, Nancy and Keith. They are very nice and happy to be in a quiet neighborhood. Avian went to watch Rose paint their parking spot at school and then headed to help Anthony move into his new apartment near UNCC. I finished the day by vacuuming the house. I was exhausted and really hurting! Avian went to a music festival with some friends to cap their day off.

August 18th, Steve saved the day with his Excel expertise. Dr. Graham lost a large file she had been working on when her computer froze and she had to reboot. Steve helped her recover most of it and the V-lookup he taught me saved the rest of the work.
Jeremy was informed by his academic advisor that he has to do one more class because the university messed up earlier with letting him register for two classes that fit one requirement. He is NOT happy. One of the professors of lobbying for the students to not have to make up for a mistake the university made. We will see what happens.
August 20th I got to start with 25% weight-bearing and can add 25% each week until I am at full weigh-bearing. I had to wear the brace during the day, but can take it off at night AND I can start driving myself places!!!! Jeremy started school. It was the first day of last semester He also found out that UNCC decided to not require the students to make up for their mistake. Jeremy does not have to take another class to graduate. He is over the moon excited and relieved.
August 21st I drove myself to school!!! Avian spent their free time making a Batman hoodie!

August 23rd, Alena sent Avian a picture of her dorm room. She has an extra bed and put Avian's phat head in it so she won't feel lonely. Classic!
That night we went to the football game to support the Knight Watch. We smashed the other team 48-8. It was also really fun seeing the kids that had been in my 5th grade class when I was a long-term sub as freshman enjoying the game. The Knight Watch sounded really good. Rose is the drum major and is having a ball her senior year.

August 24th Avian made burritos for her friends and then they took a train into uptown Charlotte to have some fun. Jeremy worked a full day. Steve and I got things done around the house. t things done.
August 26th Steve made a shelf for Cindy to go in the bookshelf that a teacher didn't need anymore. Avian picked out the meals for their last week at home before heading off to college.
August 27th Steve and I have been married 31 years!! I was also able to go to 50% weigh-bearing.
August 28th Avian made a bag for their bike lock and supplies. Steve and I went to the Crazy Mason for an anniversary milkshake instead of dinner. They were soooo good! We then did a little grocery shopping and then went to Kohl's to look around Steve found a gorgeous Lauren Conrad dress on clearance and it fit!!! Avian was out with friends. Jeremy was back to work at the tutoring center as well as his other job and school. He is going to be busy this last semester in school.
August 29th Bank of America let me know that they could not move forward with the HELOC paperwork until I cleared up a judgement again a Sarah Cannon. It is from 5/2022 and is not on my credit report. 99.9% sure it is NOT me. I will figure it out.
August 30th was a busy day. I talked with LegalShield to get some help with figuring out the judgement thing. It turns out that I will have to go to the county courthouse in person and try to get it sorted out. Oh well! Avian and Steve went to BJs to stock up on paper supplies and cleaning supplies. It was pouring rain!. Brad Panovich, a local weatherman, said that the Charlotte area had over 3,000 lightening strikes over a two-hour period. It was crazy!
August 31st, we took Avian to Walmart for a few last-minute things. Avian is working on an animatic for the new song from EPIC: The musical, based on the Odyssey. It is really good! We got some things organized and packed as well. I was also notified that someone was trying to use my credit card to purchase things online. The bank notified me and I shut my card down.
