February 2015

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY!!!  The best way to start off the month.  We went to the Stewart's house to watch the game with a bunch of friends.  It was a blast.  Shane was hoping the Seahawks would win and I was pulling for the Patriots.  The score was relatively close throughout the entire game and came down to the last few seconds.  Seattle decided to throw the ball on their own three yard line and threw and interception.  It was awesome.  The Patriots ended up winning the game.

February 2nd I went back to LNC to grade the dance performances.  The kids wanted to perform for Mr. Willits on his first day back.  The 7th grade had chosen to choreograph their own routines and pick their own music.  They completely tanked their performances.  They looked like they had not had three weeks to get ready.  Mr. Willits was not pleased at all.  I had been in communication with him throughout the entire month so he knew what was going on and he knew that I had worked with each group individually but they chose not to take my advice and went their own way and it completely did not work for them.  The highest grade in the class was a C.  Eighth grade did not let me down.  I taught them a hip hop routine and then told them to add their own flavor.  They did a great job.  The lowest grade in that class was a B.  I learned that grading is a lot harder than the teachers make it look.  You want to be fair, but also honest and sometimes the two just don't happen on the same assignment.

February 6th Naomi came home with three ribbons attached to her shirt.  She had gotten "A Honor Roll", "Perfect Attendance", and "Reading Challenge".  Way to go!

February 7th, Nick played in a church basketball game.  The team played really well but they still lost by 9.  I am proud of Nick because he didn't get discouraged.  He recognized that they had played their best and just happened to play a team that was 9 points better.

A little "after game therapy".  Yes, that is one of my bras wrapped around his head.  What a nut!

After the basketball game I went back down to the Mathapalooza.  I had dropped Naomi off before heading to Nick's game and wanted to get back in time for the awards ceremony.  I missed it by about 10 minutes.  That is okay because Naomi was just as excited to show me her 3rd place overall trophy.  She had a great day and loves math even more now (if that is even possible).

Naomi and her trophy.

That night Jeremy and I went to the Saturday Knight Live talent show at the high school.  It was really good.  I was impressed with the level of talent in the show and the level of planning that went into making the show so much fun.

February 10th the washing machine broke.  Normally this would not be a huge deal but this time is worth a blog mention.  I wasn't about to surrender and get a new machine so I went to the internet and googled the problem.  I found a couple of things that seemed like they might be the cause, located the replacement piece and repaired it myself.  It was the agitator coupling.  A $15 part and 30 minutes of my time was all it took to fix it.  BOO YA!

That afternoon Nick's service project group met at Hind's Feet Farm to do the planting of the bulbs. This is part of the 7th grade project.  The kids were divided into groups of 4 and asked to find a service project in the community they thought was needed and help out in any way they could.  Nick's group wanted to beautify the grounds of a nursing home or care facility.  After making a couple of phone calls and getting turned down Nick suggested calling Hind's Feet.  Marty had the perfect project in mind.  He needed flowers planted in the boxes in front of Puddin's Place, their main resident house.  Marty told them that the house was named after his mother (whose nick-name was Puddin') and that her favorite flower was the tulip.  With this in mind got to work planning.  Today was the day we would put their plan into action.  Two hours later they had over 150 bulbs planted.  The mothers stood on the sidelines and cheered them on while they did the majority of the work.

Done!  (Naomi is photo bombing off to the left)

February 11, 2015, Nick officially became a teenager.  In his own words --"BEST DAY EVER!!!"  We took his bike in for a major overhaul and tune-up and it was ready for pick up on his birthday.  He loves to ride his bike and to have it back after four days in the shop was really exciting.  The girls at school sang "Happy Birthday" to him during physical activity time (think recess with a fancy new name).  I brought homemade-oreos to lunch so he could share them with his friends.  We had Papa Murphy's pizza for dinner with rootbeer floats for dessert.  After dinner we showered him with gifts.  It was a day all about him and he loved it.

Candles in the pizza are a lot easier than candles in a rootbeer float.

Now he can build his own cars.  Erector sets are the best!

Car clock - to add to his new room decorations.

Friday the 13th Naomi did not have school so we got to hang out for the day.  We didn't do much that was exciting, but it was exactly what we wanted to do that day so it was perfect.  That night, Steve and I decided to get ahead of the crowd and go to dinner for Valentine's Day.  I think we might have to make this a tradition in the future.  There were no crowds and the prices were normal - not the special "holiday" pricing which does not always save you money.

On Valentine's Day we spent most of the day getting Nick's big project done and ready to hand in the following week.  This meant time at Matt's house to get the paper written and the final touches on the visual presentation.  The boys had a great time together and really listened to what the parents had to say.  They were good at taking our advice into consideration and using what they felt would improve their final product.  That night we all just chilled as a family.

Sunday, February 15th, Steve had a double Eagle Court of Honor for Blake Giler and Ethan Shamanis.  These boys have been inseparable since the day the Shamanis family moved into the ward ten years ago.  They have done everything together and met their scout milestones together along the way.  So, to have them both get their awards the same day was very fitting.  It was a great ceremony and the mothers had prepared an impressive spread for afterwards.   Steve was beaming because he added two more mentor pins to his collection.  He really works hard to support his scouts all the way to Eagle and the boys really appreciate him.

February 17 and 18 were both snow days for all three kids.  There was a delayed start of the school day on the 19th because of ridiculously cold temperatures in the morning.  We made the most of our time off.

February 19th JEREMY TURNED 16!  We had a Cafe Rio dinner that night with caramel cheesecake for dessert.  I spent all day preparing the food and it was worth every second.  I cannot believe that my baby is 16.

This tomatillo had a nose.  I named him Squidward (after the Sponge Bob character).

The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch t-shirt he has been dying to get.

His own, Japanese mug for warm drinks. (Front view)

Mug back view (because it is so cool we have to show both sides)

No 16th birthday would be complete without a new car.  We bought Jeremy a BMW Z4.  He spent the night driving it around....  the house.  It is remote controlled.  Pretty cool.

CHEESECAKE!!!

Naomi also found out that she made the choir at school.  She had tried out the previous week and was on pins and needles to find out if she made the cut.  Congratulations!

February 21st we drove up to Greensboro to hear Elder Christofferson.  It was part of a series of talks he was giving to the members in the area and this was especially for the youth.  That said, only the youth were allowed in the chapel, overflow and gym area.  The parents sat in the foyers and extra rooms.  Naomi was thrilled because Elder Christofferson walked right by where she was standing and he gave her a hi-5.  Here are some of the highlights from his talk:

1.  Don't believe in the works of fiction the world wants you to believe.  Believe in the truth.
2.  Look out for each other.  Don't take risks.  Be clearly on the Lord's side.  Mutual night should be like an oasis.  Stay strong for each other and stay in the group.
3.  Don't take your beliefs for granted.  Higher standards equal higher levels of happiness.
4.  Sundays should be your favorite day.  It is a day of rest - so rest.  What you do on the Sabbath is a sign of how you feel about God and the kind of person you want to be.
5.  Always be in tune with the spirit so you will be ready to hear His voice and do what is needed.
6.  Don't give up, tire, slack or rest until you receive answers to your prayers.  Answers will come.
7.  Stay on the path, no matter what.  Happiness is your destiny.
8.  God knows you and claims you as his own.  You are never alone.

February 25th was a great day for all.  The boys were told by the orthodontist that they did not have to wear their elastics any more.  They were happy because they hate wearing them and I am thrilled because I will no longer find used elastics all over the house!

February 26th we got 6 inches of snow.   We spent most of the day playing in it!!  Steve and the boys decided to redo the wood pile and put a real roof on it since the other one basically fell apart.  We also got in some good service by shoveling driveways for neighbors.

Nick had the coolest project for science that was due somewhere during all this activity.  He had to create a shirt that showed the major organs, bones and muscles in the torso area.  It was fun to do and the results were great as well.  He got an A.

February 27th Justin Muller slept over (as Jeremy's birthday party.  This is what he wanted).  We played SPOONS and Apples to Apples, watched a movie and had a great time.

Febraury 28th was JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT!!!  And it was AMAZING.  The kids were spellbound the entire time.  I didn't hear a single "when is intermission" or "how much longer."  The background was a simple white curtain upon which they projected brick walls, or Egyptian pyramids, or Pharoh's palace or...  Some of the props and costumes were white and were used to show projected images that enhanced the scene.  It was pretty cool.   My favorite part was still the brothers.  They have the best part.  Pharoh was great as well.  Diana Degarmo did an excellent job as the narrator.  Ace Young was an okay Joseph but it is nearly impossible to out perform Donny Osmond (especially for this girl who grew up having a crush on Donny!!!)  Afterwards we went to dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings.  Jeremy was especially excited about his because he has never been to a sit down restaurant before.  It was an amazing day!

The Tooth Fairy visited again that night.  Naomi left her another challenging note with a questionnaire about herself.  She is such a character.  Check it out.

January 2015

January was a very busy month.  It was so busy that I only got a few pictures of what we did.  You know it is busy when that happens.

Jeremy spent the first three days of the year at Ichicon.  He had an absolute blast.  Everything anime all in one location.  The first day Steve went with him to check it out and make sure Jeremy was going to be safe the other two days.  Steve said it was a total geek fest and was really fun.  Jeremy went the second day by himself.  Nick, Naomi and I dropped him off because we wanted to see what Steve had been talking about when he described some of the people.  It was insane and I could see why Jeremy was loving it so much.  On the third day he and his friend Justice (the one in the sailor outfit) decided to dress up.  Jeremy was Dr. Hooves which is a My Little Pony spoof of Dr. Who.  I thought he would be tired of the con by the third day after having spent 6 hours the first day and 10 hours the second day.  NOPE!!  He came home after 13 hours the third day ready for next year's con.  What a nut!

While Jeremy was at his con, I got to go on the shopping spree Steve gave to me for Christmas.  Nick played in a church basketball game and scored a point.  Everyone cheered when the ball went in.  The older boys kept feeding the ball to the younger boys until one of them would make it.  We lost the game according the scoreboard, but won the game according to the smiles on the boys' faces.  It was great.  I also got all the Christmas decorations put away.

January 5th I started my month-long subbing job for the dance and drama teacher at Lake Norman Charter.  I was really nervous that first day, but quickly got the hang of everything I needed to get done.  January 8th was a very cold day.  The morning started off at only 10 degrees and didn't get above 23 degrees.  My rooms at both the middle school and the highschool had several outside doors and were therefore very chilly.  I brought in hot chocolate for everyone so that we wouldn't freeze.

January 10th Steve took an archery class that got him certified to teach archery as well as be a merit badge counselor for the archery merit badge.  He was so excited.

January 11th I started taking a family history class at church.  It was really interesting to see all the work that has already been done on both sides of my family as well as what work still needs to be done.  I even met a cousin by marriage while trying to fix the mistake that Grandma Taylor was deceased when she is very much alive.  It was really cool.

Naomi messing around with the Bananagrams tiles and spelling out things she loves.

January 12-16 was a good week for subbing.  The kids are all getting into the rhythm of the new semester and we are getting used to each other as well.  Nick told me that his social status has climbed because I am a sub.  That is worth it right there.

January 18th, after weeks of "subbing" for the chorister in primary I was officially given the job.  This is going to be a fun calling.

January 19th, although I was enjoying being with the kids, I realized this week just how hard teachers work and what kind of minefields they have to traverse on a daily basis.  In theater the 8th graders kept asking me why they couldn't swear in school.  We had the talk about polite language and its usage in the business world versus using whatever words pop into their heads at any given moment.  I also learned that there is a lot of political tape to go through even to accomplish the most simple of tasks.  I was looking forward to Mr. Willits return so he could deal with it all once again.

Side note - no more night lights at our house.  My babies are growing up.  I am in denial.

January 24th  Steve and the boys spent the day at the temple while Naomi and I did some reading, sewing and cleaning.  I finished reading "To Kill A Mockingbird" for the second time.  I really didn't enjoy the book in highschool, but I loved it this time.  I understood more of what was going on and could appreciate the plot more.

January 25th - being the chorister in primary is a ton of fun.  It is a totally different thing now that I am officially in the calling because I can do all the things I have been working on for the last month.  The kids seemed to have a great time as well.  I actually got one little boy to sing who has never sung word before because he is so shy.

January 26th must have been a full moon because all the boys in 7th grade dance class were bouncing off the walls.  They started climbing on the tables and rolling in "Mr. Willits' chair".  Both of these are rules set by the school and I had to give out silent lunches for breaking safety rules.  Then in 8th grade dance, the boys wanted to have a pretend basketball game while the girls cheered them on.  They had been working so hard I gave them twenty minutes to have their "game" and then we would get back to work.  I was answering a question for one of the students when I heard someone yell, "Dylan, get down!"  By the time I turned around Dylan was back on the ground from where ever he had been (which was apparently on top of the vending machine).  I couldn't do anything about it because I didn't actually see him on top of the machine.  The class did get a lecture about not climbing on things and pretend basketball has been banned until further notice.  Yup!  Must have been a full moon.  Did I mention I was looking forward to Mr. Willits return??

January 27th Naomi went to the Latta Plantation on a field trip.  She loved seeing where the slaves lived.  It was not a very big house for 30 slaves.  She also liked the kitchen house where all of the food for the big house was prepared.  It gave her a better understanding of what life was like during the slave years in the South.

That night was a Court of Honor for the troop.  Steve gave out several rank advancements, multiple merit badges and even had an Eagle ceremony all in one night.  He has been very busy as scoutmaster.

January 30th was my last day subbing.  With all the hard times throughout the month I have to say that I really enjoyed being with these kids.  They made me feel young.  "You look too young to have a 16 year old, Mrs. Cannon."  Over at the high school I was helping one group with a read-through of their play when another teacher came in the room and asked some of the kids by the door where their teacher was.  They looked around and said, "Our teacher is in here somewhere."  They couldn't find me because they said I blended in with all the other kids.  I wouldn't trade the month for anything.  I learned so much, but I am happy to turn it all back over to Mr. Willits.

That night Steve and I got online and purchased tickets for the Broadway tour of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."  We are all so excited to get to see it live on stage.  Now we just have to wait until the end of February.

December 2014

December crept up on us fast this year.  With Thanksgiving so late in the month of November it felt like we hadn't even cleaned up the turkey before December arrived.  We hit the ground running to fit everything in.

December 1 I subbed for Mrs. Stinson again.  The kids and I were getting to know each other fairly well and we were even getting along and having a great time.  I loved that I could call them by name.  I will always remember this day though because it was the day that I learned about the "s" word.  Riley came to me complaining that Brodie was saying the "s" word.  I had been subbing in the 8th grade and had to get my mind out of 8th grade vocabulary and back into first grade vocab.

Me:  Did he say "stupid"?
Riley:  No
Me:  Did he say "shut up"?
Riley:  No
Me:  (in my head) crap (out loud) Tell Brodie to come here please.  Brodie, I hear you said the "s" word.
Brodie:  (softly while looking at the floor) Yes.
Me:  Mrs. Cannon does not know what the "s" word is.  Will you please tell me?
Brodie:  No.  It's a bad word.
Me:  I need to know so I can help you, ok?  You won't be in trouble.  Please tell me just this once.
Brodie:  (He looked me right in the eyes sighed and then whispered) Sexy.
Me:  (Trying not to laugh)  You have older brothers and sisters at home don't you?
Brodie:  Yes
Me.  Between you and me, Brodie, that is not a really bad word, but I wouldn't say it anymore around Riley because it is really upsetting her.  OK?
Brodie:  OK (very relieved to not be trouble)
Me:  Now hurry back to your seat and get your work done (...so Mrs. Cannon can laugh).

Never a dull moment with first graders.

December 3rd I woke up with complete laryngitis.  There was absolutely no voice left and I had to substitute at the middle school.  Let's just say that the kids got a big kick out of my lack of voice.  I made it through the day with very  little incident.

December 5th while Naomi was at Emily's birthday party I went shopping for my own birthday presents.  It was fun to wander around Target and pick out slippers and a couple of sweaters for the kids to give to me.  Steve has been slammed at work with one employee who moved to a different department, one employee who is about to have a baby any day and a new employee to train.   He is doing all this on top of his scoutmaster responsibilities which are big right now because he has three more scouts finishing up their Eagle paperwork for submission before the end of the year.  When I got back to the party to pick up Naomi the room was in chaos and the kids were having a grand time.  They were at a place called "Defy Gravity" which is wall to wall trampolines and obstacle courses.  It looked really fun.

December 6th Jeremy went to the paintball fieldtrip with the Outdoor Club.  Nick spent the day at Matt's house.  When Jeremy got back from paintball he had just enough time to shower and get to Jose's party.  Both Nick and Jeremy said it was the best day ever.  Naomi loved it because her brothers were gone and she had me all to herself.

December 9th I woke up, got everyone off to school and work, did my Zumba, read my scriptures, showered, ate breakfast and went to visit with Sister Ford before heading to the LNC library to volunteer.  I got to talk with my parents in the afternoon before heading to choir practice that night.  A day full of my favorite things.
Me and Sister Ford.

December 10th I spent the whole day at home working on projects for Christmas.  When Naomi got home from school she was so proud to show me she had lost a tooth during the day.  I told her she needed to put it under her pillow so the tooth fairy could bring her some money.  The tricky little girl decorated an envelope and attached a quiz for the tooth fairy to complete.  She was shocked and thrilled when the questions and picture had been completed the following morning.

December 12th we had another girls lunch.  This time we celebrated Christy's and my birthdays.  Sara and Julie had fixed Pad Thai and cheesecake for me.  It was great.  Christy had a German chocolate cake all to herself.  As always, we laughed until our faces and sides were sore.

That night was the ward Christmas party.  We had dinner and our traditional slide show of then and now pictures.  I submitted the following pictures and our then and our current family photo for the now.

December 14th Steve started the day at Urgent Care with acute bronchitis.  I was getting laryngitis again but not as bad this time.  My voice held out long enough to complete the ward choir Christmas sacrament meeting.  This is no small thing because there are only three altos and if I bailed...It went very well and the music sounded the best it ever has.  The Activity Day Girls choir sounded amazing as well.  Naomi loved singing in both choirs.

That night we went to the Todd's house to say goodbye to Zach before he left on his mission.  He is going to be a dynamic missionary.  I haven't met anyone that does not like Zach.

This year for Christmas Rick and EllaRene sent the kids money and they were to pick out a present for someone in need.  They wanted us to help make someone else's Christmas a little better.  Every year our church has an angel tree and the kids picked someone off of this.   We took the kids shopping and let them pick out the items for their person.  It was a fun night.

December 16th was a marathon day.  It started with me exercising and reading the scriptures, like always.  I then ran to Target to try and find some Duplo blocks for a 4-year-old we had taken off the giving tree at church.  I got the last set in the store.  I then picked Jeremy up from his half day at school.  The high school was taking mid terms and so they only had to attend for half the day.  I had a quick bite to eat at home and them went to visit with Sister Ford.  At my last visit she had told me how much she missed crocheting so I told her I would bring her some supplies the next time I came.  When I handed her the yarn and hook she immediately started crocheting.  It was completely muscle memory.  I hope it helps her stay a little more calm on her upcoming flight to Vegas to be with family for Christmas.  She hates flying and airports.  After chatting with Sister Ford and Sandy for a bit I went to the middle school library to volunteer.  On the way home Nick was telling me that his back wire was really eating up his cheek. I tried calling the ortho to see if they could trim it for him, but their line was busy.  Since it was just the two of us and Jeremy could get Naomi off the bus I drove straight to the ortho. The reason the phone line was busy was because so many people were coming down with the flu they were all calling to cancel their appointments.  They got Nick in right away and fixed the wire problem.  He is much happier.  Back at home I fixed dinner.  Steve took the boys to the caroling activity and I took Naomi to the church for her Achievement Days activity.  Sister Jarvis pulled me aside and said that some of the girls hadn't brought a present for the gift exchange.  Would I have time to run to the store and pick up a couple of items?  I was happy to help out.  I got back just in time for the gift exchange.  That night I fell into bed grateful that I was able to get so much done.

December 18th I subbed the 1/2 day for Mr. Willits at the middle school so he could conduct the mid terms at the high school.  The kids were finishing watching the movie "Hairspray".  It was fun to watch them watch the movie.   I met Mr. Willits after the half day was done so he could give me all the stuff I would need to conduct his classes for him during the month of January.  (Did I forget to tell you?  I am subbing for Mr. Willits the entire month of January while he is out recovering from shoulder surgery).  By the time he was done giving me everything I was completely overwhelmed, but excited.  I ran Jeremy to the orthodontist and then we went out to lunch before I had to be back to the middle school to pick up Nick.  On the way home from school, Nick decided he really wanted pizza for dinner so we stopped at Aldi and picked up what we would need and then went home to chill.

December 19th I subbed for Mrs. Kochever (she was out due to a death in the family).  This is of note primarily because today was the day for all the grades to have their Winter parties hosted by the PTA.  My class was scheduled for first thing in the morning which meant ice cream with crushed Oreos and chocolate sauce at 8:30 am.  You can imagine how the day went from there.  The kids were so excited about the Christmas break they could hardly sit still.  And they did hardly sit still.  To relax I went to the grocery store after I dropped Naomi off at home.  That says it all.  I really don't like grocery shopping, but...

December 20th the boys went with Steve to stack wood as a service project for scouts.  Naomi had a practice at the church for the upcoming Stake Christmas Musical Fireside.  She was singing with her Achievement Day Girls choir.  Haylie Tufts came home with us and played for a bit until we had to go to a family party at one of Jeremy's friend's houses.  The Gerrard's really know how to throw a party.  There was food everywhere and the entire basement was an entertainment mecca for the kids.  We had a great time.

December 21st was a marathon church day.  I spent the morning getting all the cookies ready for the kids' teachers at church.  We packed a picnic dinner and headed to church at the normal time.  Steve had an Eagle Board of Review for one of his scouts directly after church and then it would be the stake fireside after that so we had a picnic in my room during the board of review and were ready for the program when it started.  Naomi and her group sounded amazing and she had a great time singing with her friends.

December 22nd I woke up to the realization that I hadn't taken the kids shopping for their presents for Steve or for each other.  Nick and I headed out first thing and spent the morning looking all over town for the one present he wanted to get Jeremy.  We finally found it at a great little shop called "Video Game World".  We could have gotten lost in there all day, but pulled ourselves away so we could finish what needed to be done.  Just as Naomi and I were arriving at the mall to get Jeremy's gift I got a panicked call from a sister in the ward whose refrigerator had died during their move and she needed help getting the new fridge to her house.  Could they borrow the truck?  As luck would have it, we had just the right amount of time between getting Jeremy's present and getting to our hair cut to help them out.  It was actually a fun thing getting it loaded up, tied down and driving it to their house.  Naomi and I made it to our haircut with minutes to spare.  We both feel like new women now with our new haircuts.

December 23rd I was in the doctor's office getting a prescription for my sinus infection. I was shocked when he told me I had an ear infection as well.  No wonder the right side of my head hurt so much more than the left.  After picking up my prescription I ran home to make sure Nick was ready to go to his friends house when they arrived to pick him up.  Naomi was laying on the couch wrapped in a blanket and not feeling well.  Oh boy. Later that evening, when I picked Nick up he was not feeling well either.  His throat was on fire and he had a barking cough.

December 24th I took Nick to see the doctor.  He had been up during the night unable to swallow because his throat hurt so much and his cough was making it worse.  They did a strep test on him and it came back negative.  The culprit was most likely a nasty virus since there was no fever or other signs of infection.  We relaxed the rest of the day and went to bed early.

December 25th was also spent relaxing.  We had cinnamon rolls and cinnamon roll waffles for breakfast and opened presents all morning.  We got to talk with family from all over the US and Ecuador as well.

 'Nuf said.

Nick's dream car in his favorite color.

 Just what she always wanted.

Nick was so sick he had to wear this mask so he didn't share with the rest of us.  He was a good sport about it.

A fusion of art and science - GENIUS!!

Jeremy in his new coat, Tardis tie and Soul Republics.  He is one happy boy.

 'Tis the season to eat...

December 26th and 27th I spent the whole day getting my curriculum together for the dance classes at the middle school.  I had a blast doing some research on the history of dance and putting together a Power Point presentation (complete with videos).

December 28th I was released, after two years, from Sunbeams.  Bitter sweet day for me.
December 31st we fixed a huge Chinese New Year dinner.  We had gyoza, won tons, Mongolian Beef and Broccoli and Shrimp Creole.    We had so much left over that we called the Todds and the Stewarts.  Julie and Shelli came right over to help us out.  They took a bunch back to their families for the following day.  They even helped with the dishes before they left.  That is a win-win situation if I every heard of one.   We watched fireworks in the cul-de-sac with our neighbors, watched a year in photos and rang in the new year at midnight before crashing well into the new year!!!

 ...and eat and eat.

 Yummy!

A goofy picture at midnight.  We are all a little tired.  Can you tell?

January 1st, Nick spent most of the day putting this Brick Em Young temple together.  He loves Legos and when my mom saw this earlier in the year she know Nick would love it.  He certainly did.  See the proud look on his face.  It was not an easy project, but he loved every minute of it.  He wanted me to include these pictures in my December blog since I hadn't posted it yet.
